This one day workshop with portrait painter Christopher Clements will take you through everything you need to know to draw well proportioned head studies including:
- Expressive, dynamic gesture
- Orientation of the head and connection to the body
- Key landmarks & what to look out for
- Head structure and placement of the features
- Speed & efficiency
- Sketching materials
The concepts covered in this workshop will provide you with flexible skills that you can use to boost your creative potential. You might want to create portrait sketches of friends and family, improve your life drawing or incorporate as a solid foundation for portrait paintings.
Christopher Clements studied Fine Art Painting and went on spent nearly four years studying classical drawing and painting in Florence. He is the artistic director of Northern Realist Drawing & Painting in Manchester, teaching contemporary realism to a new generation of artists. He also lectures in drawing at the University of Salford and has exhibited widely including with The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Pastel Society.
The workshop is a chance to spend time concentrating on your work beside like-minded, friendly artists. Materials are provided and the workshop is limited to 10 places meaning you can work at your own level and pace. Whether you’re looking to learn fundamental principles or push your skills from a more advanced position there will be plenty to learn and benefit from.
