Bollington’s Biryani Boost
With the 2009 Bollington Festival only a year a way, the race is on to raise funds for two and a bit weeks of celebration next May.
One tastebud-tickling scheme is for a dinner – billed as a “biryani boogie” - at The Viceroy, Bollington’s celebrated Indian restaurant, on Thursday June 26. Tickets cost £18, which includes a full buffet, with vegetarian offering. Live music will accompany the meal and a disco will follow once the curries and poppadoms have been digested. There will also be a late bar.
“This will be a great opportunity for people to come together to show their support for the festival while having a great night out,’’ said a spokeswoman for the organising team. “Come with your friends or come and make new friends. Have an excellent meal, a bit of a dance and raise some cash for a good cause.”
The dinner will also a feature a Silent auction, which should suit retiring bidders who don’t like the idea of sticking their hands in the air. With a Silent auction, potential buyers simply have to write down their bids on a sheet of paper. The highest bid wins the prize – and excellent prizes are promised, including holiday accommodation in a number of sun-kissed destinations.
You can bid for:
Family holiday in rural Brittany - Holiday accommodation on the South Coast - Sunshine holiday accommodation on Minorca’s beautiful north coast - London apartment, tickets for the London Eye - Quiet retreat in the Peak District - DJ opportunity! - Tour of the Houses of Parliament - Lunch for two, including wine, at Arighi Bianchi - A week’s free parking close to Manchester airport - New Vic Theatre voucher - Massage voucher - Christmas Cake - A succulent chicken - State of the art electric toothbrush - Vintage Port, Dow 1963 - A case of wine - Beautiful handmade bowl - BBQ special - GCSE English Tuition - Chocolate cake - A Walt Disney Toaster - Mahogany bookcase - Canal Cruise - World class jazz at the Arts Centre - Airport Chauffeur - Reflexology voucher - A bottle of vintage wine - Gents’ haircut
Tickets are limited to just 140. “Please round up your friends now and book your Viceroy tables for an event that will surely prove to be a great foretaste of the festival spirit,’’ added the spokeswoman. “Make a date in your diary now.”
