Science
at
the
festival
–
could
you
lend
a
hand?
For
the
past
12
months
the
science
group
have
been
hard
at
work
coming
up
with
interesting
ideas
of
events
for
the
next
Bollington
Festival.
Many
external
groups
have
shown
an
interest
in
helping
us
from
the
Silk
Museum
to
Macclesfield
Astronomy
Society.
Since
2009
is
the
year
of
astronomy
we
have
planned
a
number
events
for
all
ages:
Star
parties
with
masses
of
telescopes
trained
on
the
outer
reaches
of
space;
a
planetarium
show
with
real
moon
rocks
and
the
top
scientist
from
Manchester
University
giving
a
lecture
on
space
make
up
just
some
of
the
events
planned.
Some
of
our
events
depend
heavily
on
funding
–
we
are
still
waiting
to
see
whether
a
‘Fly
me
to
the
moon’
musical
concert
with
film
footage
of
that
momentous
moon
landing
will
be
funded
–
watch
this
space
for
more
details!
A
science
fair
type
event
is
planned
with
some
very
entertaining
demonstrations
and
exhibitions
from
newts
to
old
microscopes!
A
comedy
event
for
teenagers
(and
upwards!)
with
sketches
about
the
science
of
attraction
should
prove
a
hit.
Macclesfield
Rangers
have
volunteered
their
time
to
work
with
our
schools
during
the
festival
so
we
do
have
a
‘festival
for
all’
feel
to
the
events.
All
the
group
have
forged
new
friendships
through
networking
and
we
have
been
delighted
with
the
response
of
many
people
who
have
come
forward
and
offered
their
time
and
services
to
help
make
this
another
memorable
festival.
