ARTISTS’ TRAIL
‘OPEN STUDIOS’ EXHIBITION
BOLLINGTON ARTS CENTRE
Sunday May 3 – Friday May 15
A group of talented local artists will be exhibiting new work at the Bollington Arts Centre this month to promote the Artists’ Trail that is taking place during the Bollington Festival.
Painters, printmakers, textile artists and photographers will be showcasing their work to raise awareness of the open studios event, which is expected to attract hundreds of visitors during the Festival.
Artist and coordinator, Emma King, explains the idea behind the exhibition: “Each artist will be exhibiting at least one new piece of work, giving visitors the chance to see a wide range of skills and styles as well as deciding who’s studio they might like to visit on the artists’ trail.”
Watercolourist Dean Entwistle has illustrating a map of Bollington to guide visitors around the trail. The map will be available at the exhibition, alongside a souvenir poster version that is being sold to raise funds for the festival. “My background is in illustration, so this project has been really enjoyable,” says Dean. “Having lived in Bollington for many years, I was happy to volunteer to draw it. It’s been fascinating examining the architecture and landscape of the village for the design - it really lends itself to the map.”
The Open Studios Exhibition opens on Sunday 3 May at 2pm and continues every Sunday from 2-4pm until Friday 15 May. The exhibition will also be available to view during other events at the Arts Centre.
All work on show will be available to buy, with a percentage being donated to the Arts Centre. The Artists’ Trail takes place over the first two weekends of the Bollington Festival – 9/10 & 16/17 May. For further information please visit the Festival website at www.bollingtonfestival.org.uk
