The family picnic is set to be eventful with a variety of fun things for all the family. There are a limited number of pay-per-go activities, whilst the rest is provided free of charge – if you would like to make a donation to the Festival funds please feel free to do so via the donation button on the website. For the more adventurous children and adults, we have a climbing wall (£1 per go) that will test your skill and give you a taste of extreme sports.
For Dad’s who like to get messy there’s a Dad’s Bog Snorkelling races for the foolhardy! Bring your own mask and snorkel and wet-shoes for a race in the river (conditions permitting) from the tunnel mouth to the footbridge. Younger messy types can have a go at water based experiments and pond dipping on the rec.
For those preferring more esoteric pastimes, lay back with your locally bought picnic and listen to the tales of the wandering storyteller or watch the jugglers perform or learn how to spin a plate. Step into the festival marquee and into the planetarium to take a tour of the solar system (£1 per person). Background music will be provided by Nick Wright of Canalside Community Radio whilst Richard and Lee from Macclesfield Borough Council’s Play Team organise rounders. While in the competitive spirit, judging will take place at 2pm of the sculpture competition that will have been running throughout the festival.
So much to enjoy and do – buy your picnic locally and come to the rec at 12 noon on Monday 25th May – we’ll be there come rain or shine so dress accordingly and make the day fun.
